Empowering small business
GSA Richard Rabins is Co-Chairman of Alpha Software in Boston. The company has developed an easy to use e-commerce software package, AlphaStore 2007. As part of the GSA project, Richard is interested in donating the software to help small businesses in South Africa market their products online.
“In just a few hours, anyone with basic computer skills can be selling their products on the Web with a great-looking, secure online store,” says Richard. “We made AlphaStore easy enough for anyone to use, and powerful enough for professional e-commerce consultants to use as a platform for rapid customization.”
Richard and his brother Selwyn were high-flying electrical engineers at Wits in the 70’s. Wits sent them for further training at MIT. They stayed in the US where they launched Alphasoft. They are anxious to give something back. Their flagship product, Alpha Five, is a tool that radically simplifies the construction of custom database applications. Alphashop is an example of the kind of ap that can be built using A5.
We are looking for partners to help turn Richard’s offer into a practical means of launching and growing small businesses by massively expanding their reach to customers.
